High-performance polyurethane solutions for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems
Components for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems made with RIM (Reaction Injection Mould) technology in compact structural rigid polyurethane Baydur®110 FR, as an alternative to thermoforming and ABS.

The Challenge
The adoption of high-performance materials as an alternative to traditional solutions such as thermoforming and ABS made it possible to evolve the design language, raising the product's aesthetic quality and fostering greater integration between form and function. This choice also improved the structural strength and dimensional stability of the assembly, optimising the interface with adjacent components.
Requirements
Compact structural rigid polyurethane with V0 classification.
Paints with high resistance to scratches and UV rays.
Custom-made packaging according to customer specifications.
Integrated development of Baydur® 110 FR components
The project involved the production of components in compact polyurethane Baydur® 110 FR, developed through fully integrated management of the entire process, from concept to series production.
The work was carried out in close collaboration with the customer, with the aim of identifying the most effective design solution in terms of performance, aesthetic quality and fire-resistance requirements. The development path included component design, product engineering, the definition of dimensional tolerances, the design and construction of the moulds and the subsequent optimisation of the production process.
Direct management of all project phases made it possible to reduce industrialisation times, ensure control of process parameters and guarantee high standards of quality and production repeatability. The validation activities, including dimensional and functional checks, confirmed the product's compliance with the required specifications.
Results
Complete development of the product and the production process.
Optimisation of mechanical and aesthetic performance through the use of Baydur® 110 FR.
Direct control of quality and production repeatability.
Reduced management complexity for the customer thanks to the supply of a partially assembled unit.
