COMPACT RIGID POLYURETHANE

The polyurethane system used by S4Technology is a compact micro-cellular technopolymer, also known as a “first level structural” element, for reaction injection moulding (RIM) with a density of 1000 to 1150 kg/m3. Thanks to short extraction cycles lasting approximately 90 seconds, items with a thickness ranging mainly from 3 to 12 mm, with high rigidity and mechanical resistance standards, can be produced. Using single or multi-cavity aluminium moulds enables us to reproduce moulded products to accurate, high qualitative standards Finally, the production process complies with environmental requirements.

Excellent alternative to injection thermoplastics moulding since it is more structural and uses aluminium moulds rather than steel

Excellent mechanical resistance: can substitute metal and critical parts required to

bend and sustain weight;

Excellent dimensional stability

Good resistance to heat

Can be injected with fibreglass and/or carbon fibre or other mineral charges

Potential to achieve low thickness

Can be mass coloured, in mould coated and/or post-moulding painted with high surface

quality for fine coating

Potential to achieve very large moulded products using relatively straightforward

processes and high structural levels

Ensures chemical inertia in contact with many organic and inorganic substances

(including the most common acids)

Potential for co-injection with other materials

Can be disposed of as non-hazardous inert waste

Certified VO class fire-retardantE

STRUCTURAL RIGID POLYURETHANE FOAM

Medium-density structural rigid polyurethane (also known as a “second-level structural”

element) allows multiform design potential thanks to its sandwich structure – compact exterior skin with cellular nucleus.

This polyurethane system is particularly suitable for the production of large dimension moulded pieces, still structural but better able to hold the shape of the piece since the foam is more rigid than compact polyurethane. Thicknesses of moulded elements range from 4 to 20 mm with a density of 500 to 700 kg/m3.

Thickness may vary according to moulding cycle.

Great flexibility in the design phase

Potential for creating very large moulded products of variable thicknesses, in the
same piece, without distortions and contractions while the piece is in the cooling phase

Excellent dimensional stability

Good thermal and acoustic insulation properties

Ensures chemical inertia in contact with many organic and inorganic substances
(including the most common acids)

Potential for co-moulding inserts of various types

Potential for co-injection with other materials

High product durability and low weight

May be disposed as a non-hazardous inert waste

UL Certified VO class fire-retardant
